Greenbay’s lucuma powder is made from whole Peruvian lucuma fruit that has been dried and milled into a fine powder. This low-glycemic sweetener contains many nutrients including beta-carotene, iron, zinc, vitamin B3, calcium and protein. Yellow lucuma powder has a unique, maple-like taste which blends nicely and un-obstructively in a variety of recipes.
Traditionally known as the “Gold of the Incas”, the orange and yellow pulpy lucuma fruit (Pouteria obovata, or Lucuma obovata) has been found carved on ceramics discovered in archeological excavations of ancient burial sites in coastal Peru. The lucuma fruit is naturally sweet, but with low Glycemic Index, making it a healthy choice for individuals seeking to decrease their sugar intake.
Usage: Lucuma powder can be added to any beverage, smoothie, yogurt, granola, pudding or pastry.
